Nick's Futshan Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy

Nicholas Scopelitis started training in the Martial Arts late in 1978 under Sifu Edmund Lee in a system that was a mixture of Wing Chun and Mok Gar and later, in Tae Kwon Do.

Early in 1980 Nicholas started training in the Futshan style of Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu Junno Chung. This system is a traditional, mainland Chinese style originally developed by a woman and relying on sensitivity, minimum use of force and simultaneous attack and defense at close range.

Over the next 10 Years Nicholas studied and researched the Futshan Wing Chun system and developed a deeper understanding of its concepts and theory's, eventually becoming an assistant instructor within the school.

In 1989 he became a level one government accredited coach within the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).

Late in 1990 Nicholas moved to the Central Coast of NSW and at the prompting of his Sifu and fellow senior students, opened the Futshan Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy in August 1991.

In 1992 the Academy was accepted as a member of the Federation of Australian Kung Fu and Wu Shu Organizations (FAKO) in its own right.

In 1993 Nicholas completed a 1st level Diploma Course in Chinese Muscular Skeletal Therapeutic Massage under Dr Chen Yong Fa acclaimed acupuncturist and head of the Choi Lee Fut Kung Fu organization.

In 1995 he earned his 1st degree black belt in Bunbu Ichi Nihon Jujitsu under Dr Les Harnos.

In the same year the name of the Academy was changed to Nick's Futshan Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy, also known as NF Wing Chun Kung Fu.

During the same period Nicholas was graded and accepted into the Shaolin Kempo Yi-Tsung Organisation as a 4th degree black belt in NF Wing Chun Kung Fu.

In 1997 he successfully completed the NCAS level 2 National Coaching Accreditation course becoming a level 2 coach in Kung Fu.

After initially starting classes at Erina High school, the Academy changed venues a number of times before moving to its present location at Gorokan NSW, where a permanent training area was established, consisting of small classes taught in a private and semi private format.

The Academy is in the process of expanding yet again, and it is envisaged that a new and larger full time premise will be opening early 2006.
